I fixed the items which needed correcting and then chapter by chapter added the unique chapter art and a brief description of what happens in the chapter. I was able to make adjustments in the iTunes audiobook info. It cut off my book summary after 255 characters in the middle of a sentence. Then for the release date I chose to use the date of the CD audiobook release. iTunes has two separate listings for year and release date, so I chose to leave the year as 1937 the year the book was written.

The version this created was a single almost 12-hour file in iTunes and none of my chapter art was visible. With all the metadata I could adjust in place I selected build audiobook from the finish screen. There was no place within the software to do chapter descriptions. I was also able to upload the cover art and chapter art I created. Within Audiobook Builder I updated all of the metadata including the author, the narrator, the release year and a quick summary of the book itself. It was a quick fix to drag the file to the proper location. It was the only file in the chapter out of order which lead me to believe I simply placed them before the first file instead of after. This was a straightforward process and I quickly had my introduction and 19 chapters.ĭuring my testing phase I realized I had made an error in the joining, what should have been my first file became my last in several of the chapters. The first step in my project was to join all my smaller files into the chapters. Within Audiobook Builder you can manipulate your metadata to create a better experience for your listener. However, the quality of the story and the storyteller I believe will keep their attention. I considered smaller chunks of time to match perceived attention span. I usually would read them one chapter a night, so it made sense to me to use chapters for my breaks in an audiobook geared for children. When my children were little, I would read stories out loud as part of their bedtime ritual.

With The Hobbit, I wanted to create a version which appeals to children. Sketches for organization of chapter metadata
